Meet the Team
Ben Schleifer
Reuse Consultant
Hi, my name is Ben Schleifer. I founded Boundless Reuse Consulting in 2026.
Prior to founding this organization, I have gained over ten years of experience working in K-12 schools on waste reduction initiatives, particularly around school meal services. While trying to get the young students to sort their waste into compost and recycling, I noticed that the school meal services are particularly wasteful. Many of the reasons for this are systemic, including short lunch periods (around 20 minutes), over reliance on plastic and unrecyclable materials, and a general confuse by both students and adults about what to do with their waste. While some of these issues would take a national push to change, the over reliance on single-use packaging and foodware presented an opportunity to change to a reuse and more sustainable system.
My educational background includes achieving a degree in cognitive neuroscience, but I pivoted to environmental and educational work once I moved to California and joined AmeriCorps. I realized that I wanted to use my skills as an educator to empower young people to take meaning and tangible actions to prevent catastrophic climate change. While this is giant task, reuse at K-12 schools is an approach to instill environmental stewardship into the youth of the US.
